What does it take to implement e-invoicing?

Implementing e-invoicing means deciding how invoices move between your systems and the Peppol network, registering so that suppliers can reach you, and adjusting the processes that use invoice data. The work depends mainly on your volumes, your ERP or accounting system and the countries you trade in.

Choose how to connect

ConnectionSuits
Web appLower volumes, or teams that create and handle invoices manually
Ready-made integrationERP and accounting systems with an existing integration
APIPlatforms and companies that want sending, receiving and status messages in their own system
SFTPFile-based exchange from existing systems

Steps to go live

  1. Map your invoice flows. List what you send and receive, to and from whom, in which countries and in which formats today.
  2. Check the requirements that apply. Public buyers in many countries require e-invoices, and several countries are introducing B2B requirements. See the country guides.
  3. Register your Peppol ID. It is the address senders use to find you on the network.
  4. Prepare your invoice data. Make sure your system holds what a structured invoice needs, such as buyer reference, VAT details and line information.
  5. Test before go-live. Send and receive test documents in the sandbox and check validation results and responses.
  6. Bring your suppliers along. Give suppliers your Peppol ID and ask them to send e-invoices.

What changes in your processes

Structured invoices can be validated, matched and posted without retyping. To get that benefit, review approval workflows, posting rules and archiving so that they use the invoice data rather than an image of the invoice.
