My ERP or accounting system uses other e-invoice formats. Can I still use Peppol?

Yes. A Peppol or EDI service provider can map documents between the format used by your ERP or accounting system and the Peppol BIS or PINT specification required for the transaction.

A conversion is reliable only when the source contains the required business information and the mapping preserves its meaning. The converted document must be validated against the applicable Peppol rules. If mandatory data is missing, your integration or workflow must collect or enrich it rather than assume that any XML format can be converted without loss.

Sending invoices in your existing format with Qvalia

Qvalia’s Transaction API accepts outgoing invoices and credit notes in the format your system already produces. Qvalia converts the document to Peppol BIS Billing 3.0, validates it and sends it to the recipient.

FormatWhat you upload
Svefaktura 1.0Svefaktura 1.0 XML
EDIFACTOne UN/EDIFACT INVOIC message per upload, directory versions D.93A to D.16B
cXMLAn InvoiceDetailRequest for invoices and credit memos
FinvoiceFinvoice 3.0 XML
XRechnungXRechnung in UBL or CII syntax
CIIUN/CEFACT CII XML (EN 16931)
ZUGFeRD and Factur-XThe embedded CII XML, not the PDF

Peppol BIS Billing 3.0, Peppol PINT, XRechnung 3.0 UBL and CII can also be sent directly to the invoice and credit note endpoints, without the upload step.

How the conversion works

  • Qvalia stores every document as Peppol BIS Billing 3.0 and converts it on the way in.
  • Missing totals and VAT breakdowns are calculated according to the EN 16931 rules.
  • If a document cannot be converted, or is not valid Peppol BIS after conversion, the API rejects it and returns the reason.
  • You can convert and validate a document without storing or sending it, for example while you build and test the integration.
  • cXML does not carry Peppol participant identifiers, so you may need to supply the sender and receiver IDs. In EDIFACT, a GLN is read as identifier scheme 0088.

Delivery and other formats

Uploaded invoices are sent over the Peppol network by default. Other delivery channels, such as email, print and Swedish internet banks and digital mailboxes, can be added to your account and are chosen in the API call. Invoices you have sent can also be downloaded in another format, for example XRechnung or a ZUGFeRD PDF. See Can Peppol be converted into other e-invoice formats?

Uploads cover outgoing invoices and credit notes. Technical details are in the document upload and download documentation and on the Invoicing API page. If you need a format that is not listed, contact us with sample documents.
