What is eFaktúra?

eFaktúra is Slovakia’s framework for structured electronic invoicing. It is based on machine-readable invoice data rather than PDF files or scanned documents, enabling automated validation, processing, exchange, and reporting.

What is a digitálny poštár (digital postman)?

A digital postman, or digitálny poštár, is the popular Slovak term for a certified delivery service provider (certifikovaný poskytovateľ doručovacej služby) under Slovakia’s eFaktúra framework. It’s the service that securely delivers electronic invoices between businesses through the Peppol network — think of it as the postal service for structured e-invoices. From January 2027, Slovak VAT payers will need to issue invoices in the XML/Peppol BIS format, and a digital postman is how those invoices get from the sender to the recipient.

When does e-invoicing become mandatory in Slovakia?

Slovakia’s eFaktúra framework is being introduced in phases. The legislation entered into force in 2026, with mandatory structured electronic invoicing and related reporting requirements expected to apply to in-scope domestic transactions from 1 January 2027. Businesses should prepare their systems, invoice data, and provider setup ahead of the deadline.

How are Peppol and eFaktúra related?

eFaktúra is Slovakia’s national framework for structured electronic invoicing. Peppol is the network and interoperability model used to exchange those invoices securely between businesses, certified service providers, and public infrastructure.

In practice, eFaktúra defines the Slovak requirements, while Peppol provides the standardized exchange infrastructure. Businesses connect through a certified delivery service provider, such as Qvalia, to send and receive compliant electronic invoices.

What is a certified delivery service provider?

A certified delivery service provider, in Slovak “certifikovaný poskytovateľ doručovacej služby”, is an accredited provider that enables businesses to send and receive structured e-invoices through the Slovak eFaktúra framework and Peppol-based infrastructure.

Is Qvalia certified in Slovakia?

Yes. Qvalia AB is listed by Finančná správa as a certified delivery service provider for electronic invoicing in Slovakia with PA SK ID EFSK000023. Qvalia is a certified Peppol Access Point and OpenPeppol member.

What is Peppol’s role in Slovakia?

Slovakia’s eFaktúra framework is based on the Peppol infrastructure for the secure exchange of structured business documents. Peppol enables interoperability between certified service providers, business systems, and trading partners.

Can I start before the mandate takes effect?

Yes. Early preparation gives your team time to validate invoice data, test integrations, onboard trading partners, and resolve process issues before mandatory implementation.

Do I need API access?

API access is recommended if invoices, orders, or related documents should flow automatically between your ERP, accounting system, billing platform, or procurement software. Smaller teams can start with the web app and add integration later.

Does Qvalia support both web-based use and enterprise integrations?

Yes. Qvalia supports web-based e-invoicing, REST APIs, connectors, enterprise integrations, partner models, multi-tenant setups, and white-label options.
