What are the message types in Peppol?

The different Peppol message types represent the various electronic business documents that can be exchanged in sales and purchase transactions between organizations in the Peppol network. Examples of messages are invoices, credit notes, orders, responses, catalogs, punchout, and more. They are are XML files in a specific format structure and use Peppol ID as the identifier address.

The exchange utilizes OASIS UBL 2.1 and ISO/IEC 19757-3 Schematron to automate document validation.

 

Peppol BIS Billing 3.0

The e-invoice format in Peppol. The message must include buyer reference or purchase order reference, and invoice lines can contain products or services, quantity, net amount, buyer accounting reference, time period, order reference, etc.

The credit note/credit invoice message in Peppol. It is a Peppol BIS Billing 3 profile using negative amounts on a document level.
