New public monitoring of Peppol Access Point availability

Peppol Access Points form the operational backbone of the Peppol network.

Check the current status, measured uptime and response time of Peppol Access Points with Qvalia’s new monitor. It tracks the reachability of AS4 endpoints operated by a selection of providers across 19 countries. Selected public provider APIs are reported separately.

The role of Access Points in the Peppol network

Peppol uses a four-corner model. The sender is corner one and the sending Access Point is corner two. The receiving Access Point is corner three, and the recipient is corner four.

The sending Access Point validates the outgoing document, discovers the recipient’s address and receiving capabilities, and transmits the document securely to the receiving Access Point. This allows each organization to connect through one Peppol Service Provider while exchanging business documents with other participants.

In a growing number of markets, Peppol-based e-invoicing is being extended with a fifth corner for digital tax reporting. In this decentralized model, invoices continue to move between sender and recipient through their Access Points. The fifth corner receives the required transaction data for the tax authority without replacing the underlying four-corner exchange.

What the monitor measures

Each listed endpoint is checked every five minutes using the same interval, timeout and thresholds. The monitor shows current status, measured uptime and response time for the past 24 hours, 7 days, 30 days and 90 days.

The figures measure endpoint reachability. They do not show whether a Peppol message was accepted, processed or delivered, and should not be interpreted as contractual availability.
