What is a Global Location Number (GLN)?

The Global Location Number (GLN) is a numeric-based address. It is an identifier, ensuring e-invoices and other electronic documents reach the correct recipient within business networks. Companies, organizations, and authorities can have multiple GLN addresses.

Managing and registering GLN is handled by GS1.

Within the Peppol network, Peppol ID is used as the identifier. Users can choose their number, but it is recommended to use the identifier from their country’s business register, for example, the organization number in Sweden. However, other standardized identifiers such as GLN code, DUNS number, or IBAN can also be chosen.

To find companies and organizations connected to Peppol, use this Peppol ID search tool.
